* Recognizing Human Trafficking Victims: Government Respose

―――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――

On July 27, the Japanese government held the fifteenth Ministerial
Meeting Against Crime.

In the meeting, the dicsussions covered policies against child
pornography and other crimes. The official recodes include
handouts on responses to human trafficking and victim recognization.

The handouts do not have check-lists for victim recognication yet,
but they cover the definition of human trafficking as well as
guidlines for related organizations, such as the Police, the Japan
Coast Guard, the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Immigration Bureau,
Women's Centers, Children's Centers, and Labor Offices.

In order to protect victims of human traffficking, it is critical to
recognize them as victims.
If you work in a public office or in the filed of social welfare,
you might have met a victim of human trafficking without knowing it.
Please read the released guideline and spread the words!
